I’m an independent compliance and quality consultant who believes that all care should be personalised, including the care I give to providers.
As a former CQC Inspector with three decades in the social care sector, I bring a wealth of experience to you, your team and the people you support.
You can find out more about me now and connect on LinkedIn, but here’s my background:
I grew up with disabled family members in the “transitional years” from the 1970s as society moved towards less institutional models of care. My family were often involved in disability rights and advocacy.
I went to college to study social care in the very early years of the sector – the Community Care Act 1990 was just coming into force. Several lectures finished with the teacher saying “of course, that’s all changing now…” but no-one was really sure what would happen!
Over the years I worked in many roles in social care, and have seen the sector from many perspectives. I started as a care worker and then climbed the ladder into quality assurance and management, eventually becoming a CQC inspector.
Following the pandemic, I left the CQC and started this consultancy as I felt I would be most useful supporting providers during what was likely to be a difficult recovery period.
Z Cares was successful but following bereavement, I lost my hustle for a while so took full time work as the resident social care expert at Croner-i.
I have now returned to consultancy – how can I help? 🙂
